Informal Summit of German Speaking Countries 2016

7-8 September 2016

King Philippe & Queen Mathilde hosted the annual Informal Meeting of Heads of State of German Speaking Countries. The heads of state of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg and their spouses spent two days in Belgium.

In the evening the king & queen hosed a dinner at the castle of Laeken for their guests: Hereditary Prince Alois & Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, President of the German federal republic Joachim Gauck and his wife Daniela Schadt, and President of the Swiss Confederation, Johann Niklaus Schneider-Ammann and his wife.

In the morning Queen Mathilde accompanied the ladies for a visit to the "Belgisches Rundfunk- und Fernsehzentrums", BRF, while the heads of state took part in a work meeting.









Patricia Vlerick acted as lady-in-waiting.



Afterwards they visited the Töpfereimuseum in Raeren.







In the afternoon all the guests made a visit to the Zentrum für Förderpädagogik and the Germanophonic Parliament.
